PE and Sport Premium

Vision:

To raise aspirations of all pupils regardless of abilities or disabilities by encouraging them to acquire skills to perform a variety of physical activities in order to pursue a healthy and active lifestyle.

Mission:

To inspire all pupils to live a healthy and physically active lifestyle

 Aims:

  • Provision is challenging and appropriate so children can reach their full potential

  • Provision is inclusive, engaging and inspiring

  • Provide high quality PE and Sport within the curriculum and out of school hours

  • Provide a broad base of learning to develop interest and understanding of a range of sports

  • Provide children with skills and confidence to succeed and rise to the challenge of competition and to participate competitively

Purpose of the funding:

The government is giving funding to schools for a specific purpose. Schools must spend the funding on improving their provision of PE and School Sport. Schools will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

What we do currently:

We provide physical activity during the school day as well as further extra curricular clubs, such as : football, running and multi-sports.

The school currently provides a minimum of 2 hour PE every week where skills are taught through PE lessons. We also offer (and continue to offer) a wide variety of sports provision after school, through our own staff and outside providers.

In our school we are using this funding by working with the Amber Valley School Sport Partnership to:

  • Increase the amount of competition sport in which our children participate.
  • Make links to other community sports providers.
  • Develop additional clubs and activities for children, outside the curriculum.
  • Encourage our children to improve their leadership skills through sport.
  • Give extra support in PE to our most talented children and include those with special needs in sport.

Lastly, we are bringing PE and sports specialist teachers and coaches into work alongside class teachers in lessons.

In this way, our children will gain new skills and experiences and teachers will develop new techniques and knowledge to aid them in teaching sport and PE.

The long term aim is higher quality lessons and improved learning for all children.  For information about AVSSP please visit here.
