The Heroes and Marvels Award scheme is designed to encourage children to develop their non-academic, inter and intra-personal skills and demonstrate our school values of aspiration, love and community. The programme’s fundamental aim is to give the children a firm understanding of good citizenship, helping them to be prepared for life beyond Mapperley and Horsley Schools. Children are given the opportunity to work towards achieving a bronze, silver, gold or platinum award by meeting a set of objectives, depending on which year group they are in. Each child has their own Heroes and Marvels book, in which they are expected to assemble evidence to demonstrate how they are working towards the objectives for their level. To celebrate achieving their award, children receive certificates and medals at our Federation Awards evening in July.
